Product Description
The Essential Elbo 2 (EE2) is for the woodturner who wants to beging to turn vases and wide mouth vessels. Machined from solid steel the EE2 provides unique articulation, a removable stabilizer handle, nickle protective coating, native 3/4" receiver for bars, adapts to 3/8", 1/2" and 3/8" bars, universal lathe mounting base and is entirely milled and assembled in Tulsa, Oklahoma USA by Tim Yoder. Note: If you later wish to create more rounded shapes with small openings I recommend that you purchase the John Jordan Hook Tool.
The Elbo 2 at its core is a unique articulating arm that provides fingertip control and robust construction for hollowing vessels. The original Elbo was the first hollowing system to use articuation and the Elbo 2 improves upon that design. The tool is rock solid and can work on any length lathe.
The 16" straight cutter arm allows you to hollow up to 12" deep. It comes with two 5% Cobalt high speed steel cutters. The 1/4" cutter is designed for quickly hogging out green wood. It is also great for those final smoothing cuts. The 3/16" cutter is perfect for deep hollowing and difficult wood. Because of its small profile it takes a smaller bite reducing vibration and catches allowing you to go deeper into your blank. Each cutter is over 2" long. With that much steel your cutter can last you months and even years.
The 16" handle provides stability when hollowing and when you begin to go deeper into the wood. With a gentle swing of the handle your tool tip swings in small controlled movements. This gives you precise control of the cutter tip, reducing miscuts and catches.
