Product Description

The Complete Elbo 2 (CE2) is for the woodturner who wants complete freedom to turn any hollow shape they wish with accurate wall thicknesses. Machined from solid steel the CE2 provides unique articulation, a removable stabilizer handle, nickle protective coating, native 3/4" receiver for bars, adapts to 3/8", 1/2" and 3/8" bars, universal lathe mounting base and is entirely milled and assembled in Tulsa, Oklahoma USA by Tim Yoder.

The Elbo 2 at its core is a unique articulating arm that provides fingertip control and robust construction for hollowing vessels. The original Elbo was the first hollowing system to use articuation and the Elbo 2 improves upon that design. The tool is rock solid and can work on any length lathe.

The Laser Guide dramatically decreases the time you spend hollowing. Using calipers to measure the wall thickness of your vessel requires you to stop every minute or so to check your progress.  The laser guide gives you a bright red dot to watch. When that dot falls off the wood you have achieved your final thickness.

John Jordan is one of the premier hollowing woodturners in the world. He also makes the finest hollowing bars. His #1 curved bar can be used to create almost any shape you can imagine. The cutter is specially made for the tool and has such a low profile you can easily hollow through a 1" opening. The tool tip is inline with the curbed bars straight section. This balances the ‘twist’ the spinning wood imparts on a cutter. BTW wait until you use this cutter and curved bar. It blazes through green and dried wood. I use it on almost every hollowing I turn.

The cutter for the Jordan #1 bar is small to provide the ability to enter narrow openings. That makes it a little hard to hold when resharpening. The Jordan sharpening jig mounts uses your Oneway sharpening arm (and any other brand arm). Adjust the angle and simply swing the jig back and forth a couple of time to put a sharp edge back on the cutter.

The 16" straight cutter arm allows you to hollow up to 12" deep. It comes with two 5% Cobalt high speed steel cutters. The 1/4" cutter is designed for quickly hogging out green wood. It is also great for those final smoothing cuts. The 3/16" cutter is perfect for deep hollowing and difficult wood. Because of its small profile it takes a smaller bite reducing vibration and catches allowing you to go deeper into your blank. Each cutter is over 2" long. With that much steel your cutter can last you months and even years.

The 16" handle provides stability when hollowing and when you begin to go deeper into the wood. With a gentle swing of the handle your tool tip swings in small controlled movements. This gives you precise control of the cutter tip, reducing miscuts and catches. The wood grip is personally turned by Tim Yoder.

    Elbo 2

Posted by Barbara Lane on 7th Dec 2022

Tim, we bought your Elbo 2 in August in Waco, TX at the SWAT Convention. I have to say it was the best purchase we've made. I was skeptical that it would handle the woods I turn because my favorites are dry mesquite and bois d'arc and both of them are really hard. When I tried our Easy Core bowl coring system on dry mesquite, I was really disappointed. The Elbo 2, however, cuts wonderfully. It's an INCREDIBLE, AWESOME, MIRACLE TOOL in my opinion. I am SO pleased to have it!!!
